YouTube rolls out new controls aimed at controlling children’s content – TechSpot
Starting today, all content creators will be required to label their videos as either “made for kids” or “not made for kids”. Videos that are labeled “made for kids” will have limited data collection and restrict certain features such as comments and notifications. Targeted ads will also be restricted from running. While creators are required to label videos, YouTube says they will also employ machine learning to find videos aimed at a younger audience.
The company will also be heavily promoting YouTube Kids, a more restricted version of YouTube with content filters and parental controls.
A fresher, less annoying interface to YouTube
This one has been around for at least 7 years… It is called Toogl.es. What you will find is a very stripped down interface that allows you to search for and watch YouTube videos. Toogl.es is great for those home TV setups. The search function is awesome in this application and once you search a topic you can sort the result by relevance, upload date, view count, or rating. Only issue I noticed, which is not a big deal, is that some of the trending categories, when clicked on, do not produce a result.
