YouTube removed the tap on seek bar behavior to get rid of the accidental touches. But that is good, only on paper. In real use scenario, several users still prefer the old tap on the seek bar option…

Tap the seek bar to skip feature was pretty convenient, as you simply needed to tap on the seek bar to go forward or backward on a video.

However, this feature has now been removed from the YouTube app. Apparently, a new server-side update went live recently, and it disabled this YouTube tap the seek bar to skip feature.

What is YouTube TV? And should you ditch cable for Google’s TV service?

YouTube TV is heralded as one of the best streaming live TV services on the market right now, despite the pretty regular price increases it has seen. It now costs $64.99 per month, after costing just $35 a few years ago. It’s the only streaming service that has PBS, and it is also the only one with an unlimited cloud DVR service. Making this a really incredible service for those that are looking to cut the cord from Comcast, Cox, AT&T, Verizon and other cable operators.

YouTube rolls out new controls aimed at controlling children’s content – TechSpot

Starting today, all content creators will be required to label their videos as either “made for kids” or “not made for kids”. Videos that are labeled “made for kids” will have limited data collection and restrict certain features such as comments and notifications. Targeted ads will also be restricted from running. While creators are required to label videos, YouTube says they will also employ machine learning to find videos aimed at a younger audience.

The company will also be heavily promoting YouTube Kids, a more restricted version of YouTube with content filters and parental controls.

A fresher, less annoying interface to YouTube

This one has been around for at least 7 years… It is called Toogl.es. What you will find is a very stripped down interface that allows you to search for and watch YouTube videos. Toogl.es is great for those home TV setups. The search function is awesome in this application and once you search a topic you can sort the result by relevance, upload date, view count, or rating. Only issue I noticed, which is not a big deal, is that some of the trending categories, when clicked on, do not produce a result.
