If you follow the source link below you will be taken to the MajorGeeks site where there are instructions on how to upgrade to Windows 10 using a Powershell Script or manually. The manual option may be the way to go for home users. Appears this has been developed by MajorGeeks; but, not tested here at “What’s On My PC”… That is not to say this will not work. MajorGeeks is a very reputable software distribution site and if I needed to upgrade, I would give this a try. Just back up your personal files…

For some reason, Microsoft decided to discontinue these games and offers bloated Modern games from the Store instead. Display System Information On Your Desktop With Desktop Info

This post is more for those that are geeks at heart, manage test servers, or multiple PC’s in a network setting. This utility, called Desktop Info, is a portable app (just download, unzip and run), that allows you to display and monitor every kind of metric about a Windows-based system. You can actually configure this portable app to run as a screensaver. Instructions on doing that and other configuration options are included in a manual that is packaged in the zip file.

Once the Desktop Info is running you can kill it via the right click context menu or from Task Manager. Open the desktopinfo.ini file or select Configuration from the right click context menu and adjust each item in the items section to control visibility, refresh times, colors and other properties. The display updates itself automatically when you save the ini file. Desktop Info ships with a sample configuration file. The first time you run the application, the sample ini file will be copied to the working ini file. You are now free to modify it as needed using any text editor.

Quick Tip: How To Zip (Compress) and UnZip (Decompress) Files In Windows 10

You may have seen those files, called “zip” files, that have the “zip” extension. When you encounter those types of files, what you are seeing is a file that is typically compressed that contains many files inside the zip file. I know, for the beginner, this is hard to understand.

Below (courtesy of Microsoft) is how you create or compress files into a “zip” file and how you decompress a “zip” file to reveal what is inside. Typically, the home-based user most likely will be decompressing or opening a zip file, so it is best to grasp that concept first.

Zip

In the search box on the taskbar, enter file explorer. From the search results, select File Explorer. Right-click the file you want to zip, and then select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

Zipping a file by selecting Compressed (zipped) folder

Unzip

Open File Explorer, and find the zipped folder.

To unzip the entire folder, right-click to select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.
