Microsoft’s misguided launch of its very fine new Edge browser has inspired a spirited response — much of it from more confused and angry readers, but some from Microsoft’s defenders…

Microsoft makes you really angry? No, you’re not being silly…

  1. Here is the thing, defend Edge all you want. But how about the way they forced it? Yes, consent is real, and the last time I checked humanity kind of needs to agree to certain boundaries especially if you already paid for the software. So I would like to hear from a MS defender why Edge made my Chrome stop working after a day, why it reset all my Windows Privacy settings to “Enable Edge to have access to my Camera, Personal Data and app use information I always have disabled”.

So I disabled Edge in command prompt and updated my Windows Registry to block it, and Viola, no more Edge running in the background all the time without being able to stop it, and suddenly Chrome opens. Nice one Microsoft, please defend that, don’t care if its so amazing that it can do my dishes and tell me I am special. How about not bullying people, and ask them if they agree to make Edge their new Lord and Savior. How about also letting people know that you are enabling all their settings to spy on them. Remember the Xbox camera T’s&C’s that can film you no matter what? Yeah at least there were T’s & C’s to read and legally agree to back then.

    1. Eonz,

I agree with you totally. Been doing computers and software for over 30 years. When a manufacturer starts jamming products down your throat, it is time to walk away. Microsoft has a good product in Microsoft Edge, but don’t force it on people. Big mistake on their part and may affect the momentum they were experiencing with Edge.

Thanks for your input… Readers value this!
